BIO (WRITTEN IN THIRD PERSON)
Ariel Wang is a Taiwanese-American community organizer and storyteller based in Seattle, Washington.
She believes in the transformational power of storytelling through design. Her unique combination of experience in environmental science education and design shapes how she approaches storytelling and program management in this digital age.
Previously, Ariel led marketing and communications at Nippon Foundation Ocean Nexus, a research institute devoted to ocean social equity. At Ocean Nexus, Ariel spearheaded a major branding initiative, consolidating and presenting the institute’s work into a single website and established the operational framework for communications and engagement.
In San Francisco, Ariel directed marketing for Nature in the City and produced designs recognized as resources for nature engagement on The New York Times and at SFMOMA.
At the Presidio Trust, she led place-based community-informed design programs to help define a waterfront national park at the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Before joining Ocean Nexus at the University of Washington, Ariel supported leadership and translated high-level strategy into day-to-day operational solutions at Gensler San Jose, an architecture and planning firm with 55+ offices worldwide.
Ariel is a first-generation college graduate and earned her Double Major degrees at UC Berkeley in Media Studies and Political Science.
Today, Ariel is living her dream life in the Pacific Northwest. When the tide is out, she enjoys harvesting shellfish like oysters and clams to eat.
