VISION AND EXECUTION
Activating a Research Brand for Global Social Impact
From the ground up, I directed and led the brand and program strategy for Ocean Nexus, a $32.5 million ocean social science research network founded in partnership with The Nippon Foundation at the University of Washington.
As Communication Director, I led engagement across six continents and positioned research expertise on intergovernmental platforms including the United Nations and National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration.
Today, the visual, editorial, and experiential brand system aligns dispersed research and establishes a strategic framework for operations, advancing a shared mission for environmental and social equity on the world stage.
Part of the Ocean Nexus ecosystem, OceanNexus.org frames organizational storytelling and serves as a foundation for marketing and communications.

Introducing the Ocean Equity Learning Forum, a central library organized by 9 themes. I directed program strategy and defined thematic framework to centralize and share institutional research.
The brand system functions as an educational framework and contextualizes individual research within the larger knowledge ecosystem.
Industry leader and intergovernmental initiative UN Ocean Decade adopted branded messaging and help position Ocean Nexus research in global conversations.
Special Reports standardize outputs and support Fellows and Early Career Researchers in creating accessible and specialized resources on pressing global issues.
FATHOM expands and reinterprets the Ocean Nexus brand into an editorial space: a sub-brand to mobilize researchers to share expertise in reflective short-form writing.
Connecting audiences from newsletter to website engagement, this sequence captures the brand system in motion where editorial voice, design, and institutional partnership operate as one continuous experience. View sample.
